The first look of Imtiaz Ali's much awaited ‘Rockstar' is out. Ranbir Kapoor who plays the title role in the iflm will be seen in a completely new avatar in the film. Ranbir's character and image in the film is a complete departure from his earlier roles. Ranbir has been projected as a rugged and bearded rockstar which is quite different from his lover boy looks as in previous films. The film combines elements of desire, passion, fame and destruction in the life of a rockstar. The poster of the film that was released recently shows Ranbir as a fiery rockstar wielding a guitar suggesting the burning passion for music. The film is slated for release on 11th November (1.11.11), a date being considered lucky by many. The trailer of Rockstar has hit the screens along with Salman Khan's Bodyguard.
‘Rockstar' marks the debut of Nargis Fakhri, an American model who is of half Pakistani-half Czech origin. The film also features Bollywood's legendary rockstar, Shammi Kapoor who passed away earlier this month. He will be seen in a jugalbandi sequence with his grand-nephew Ranbir, where Ranbir strums the guitar while Shammi Kapoor plays the shehnai. Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri have also shared a passionate kiss in the film and also get intimate.
The film revolves around Jordan, a budding young musician, who is a little ill at ease around the edges. The young rockstar is compelled to choose his career over his love, when his love life starts intruding into his professional life. But the young heart in love is actually unable to let go and transforms him into a tormented rockstar who is constantly hounded by his past. Hardened by his attempt to control his heart, Jordan's successful career soon sees him with complete disregard to the law and society.
The legendary AR Rehman has composed the music for Rockstar after a long gap. Ranbir Kapoor had even attended one of the recording sessions of Rahman, just to see the talented composer at work. Besides, the actor wanted to get the feel of the music which in turn would help him to prepare for his character in the movie.
