Prolific Pakistani producer, director, writer, lyricist and composer Shoaib Mansoor is back one more time with a hard-hitting film titled Bol. The gifted Pakistani director has been a favorite of Indian critics since his last venture ‘Khuda Kay Liye' back in 2007. The movie went on to become a HIT as it was highly acclaimed by the Indian film critics. The director has been getting a lot of positive feedback for his next movie ‘Bol' which is slated for an August 31 release in India.
The movie has received a marvelous response in Pakistan where it released a month back. It has been the talk of town after a recent screening was held in Mumbai. A lot of film industry members who were present at the screening were in awe of the impeccable work showcased by the director as well as all the hard hitting performances by the actors including leading lady Humaima Mallick.
The movie has gained a lot of impetus due to its hard-line topic and the star cast. Famous Pakistani pop singer Atif Aslam would be seen making his debut in the film. There was profound skepticism about whether or not Atif Aslam would be able to meet the requirements of his role and do justice with it when he was first announced as the lead. But after the movie's release in Pakistan, Atif has cleared the air surrounding him. His acting skills were well accepted and applauded by the masses, thus shunning the masses.
Bol was released on June 24, 2011 under the banner of Geo Films, in Pakistan. The film went on to register a new box office record in Pakistani film industry. Bol became the highest grossing film in Pakistan in its first week of release, breaking all previous records. The previous record was held by Bollywood film, My Name is Khan, which grossed more in its first week.
The movie is a mix bag of emotions, yet conveys nuances that make your heartbeat stop. Based in the heart of Lahore, the story takes place in a house of daughters, with vivacity of life, yet limitations on budding. It oppugns the worth of a human being, may it be a woman or a person born with a birth blemish. It questions the power of reproducing human beings into this world without taking responsibility of acknowledging their worth. The movie takes you through a journey into the life of this family experiencing their troubles, pains, resolves and high points. As family members take decision to solve their problems they step into deeper troubles. The intricacy of their circumstances becomes a struggle of life and death.
The music of the movie is also quite popular amongst the youth as singer turned actor Atif Aslam has voiced two songs in the movie and the other singers include Sajjad Ali, Hadiqa Kiani, Ahmed Jahanzeb, Shabnam Majeed, Sahir Ali Bugga, Bina Jawad.
It will be interesting to see how the film performs in the Indian Box Office as Shoaib's previous film ‘Khuda Kay Liye' did a tremendous job.
